Think about dropping a hint about this one for Valentine’s Day…Continuous flowers!!

While working as a florist at Blumengarten in San Francisco, one customer ordered one of the the most thoughtful gifts I had heard of. He gave his wife a fresh arrangement of flowers every two weeks FOR A YEAR! She would come in every two weeks and pick up her arrangement and bring in the vase from the previous one, so that the credit card number he supplied got charged a designated amount for purely flowers and labor every two weeks. Fantastic idea!

This would be such a romantic holiday gift for the flower-lover, and the giver has control over how extravagant the gift can be…once per month, once every two weeks…delivered, picked-up etc…

If you are local, I would highly, highly recommend the best florist in Madison, Daffodil Parker. My husband has given me this ultra romantic gift from Daffodil Parker and I have been enjoying it for a couple of months now. I get butterflies every other Wednesday when the doorbell rings because I know that a stunning arrangement awaits on the other side.

My husband is wonderful, and this florist house is absolutely top-of-the-line—-no carnations, mums, junk flowers or junk greenery, etc. Definitely no FTD color-by-number sort of arrangements. They capture the heart and soul of phenomenal floristry right here in Madison.

They have a great selection of hip retail items —handmade soaps, fab onesies embellished by one of the owners ( a nice addition to an arrangement sent to a new mother!), and modern jewelry made by Stubborn Jewelry. An absolute treat to browse!

So drop the hint, and make sure you mention the best florist in Madison—Daffodil Parker!

Mama Jess is exiting the blogging world to pursue her other interests. She grew Mom Appeal and wrote fantastic posts. She will be missed very much!! Good Luck Mama Jess!!!

Spirals on Monroe Street is a gem!

One of my favorite stores on Monroe Street is Spirals, where you can find an eclectic mix of home accessories and furnishings, AND Goody Goody slippers for mom and daughter!!! These slippers come in an amazing variety of lush fabrics with unique embellishments. Definitely a must-have for any girl or woman’s closet! True slipper art!

Run by the ultra-helpful and friendly Carol Nowell Steele, this store offers wonderful accessories for the home. In fact, I have two adorable salt cellars from Spirals that have pewter spoons…they are functional and are a very nice addition to our sea-salt loving table.

There is no website for this store yet, so you are going to have to take my word for it and check out this store. Enjoy all of the wonderful items you will find along with great design advice from Carol!

Spanish Class for kids in Fitchburg!

Marti Fechner, who I hear is a wonderful teacher will begin a Spanish class for 4 and 5 year-olds next week at the Fitchburg Community center. Wonderful!!! The information is below:

¡Vámanos Español! (Let’s go, Spanish!)

Ages 4&5, Thursdays 11:00 – 11:45 AM

Fitchburg Community Center

Session I: January 10th – 31st #1508.301

Session II: February 7th – 38th #1508.302

Cost: $30

Give your child the gift of a new language with Vámanos Español. Children possess an amazing ability to absorb new languages. This class is fun and active. We use songs, fingerplays, stories, games, and movement to make learning Spanish lots of fun. Join us for both sessions, and watch your child’s Spanish vocabulary really grow. Parents are welcome to participate with their children, but it is not required.

The instructor is Fitchburg Resident, Marti Fechner, who teaches Spanish at various locations in Madison.
